Inspired by Black History Month — this spotlight series celebrates the diversity which drives our success, fosters strong values, and uplifts every individual to become the collective heart of Annalect culture. Join us in recognizing the talent, inspiration, and valuable insights contributing to our vibrant and inclusive community
What is your current role at Annalect?
I’m a Senior Analyst, and member of our Flex Team — which means I divide my time between Marketing Intelligence and New Business/Growth efforts. Every day is a little different.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love taking photos and making music. I’ve been involved with music far longer, but am much more public with my photography (I’m @anylogue on Instagram). I also enjoy spending time with friends and finding new restaurants.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
Landing my first job out of college — teaching in New York’s South Bronx. That first role made me feel validated, and set the stage for life after school.
In celebrating Black history and culture, who or what is your biggest inspiration.
My parents are my biggest inspiration. Immigrating from Jamaica in the 80’s, then putting their son through private school … it’s nearly incomprehensible to think they were able to pull that off. Their time, attention, and investment in my future well-being inspire me to do everything I can with what I’ve been afforded.
What message do you have for black men and women earlier in their career looking to grow into positions of leadership in their schools, workplaces and communities?
Be open to all opportunities and dive in head first. You’ll never have all the answers, or a clear vision of what’s going to happen 10 miles down the road. However, if you can fully immerse yourself in where you’re at — with a clear understanding of where you’re coming from — your journey will lead you to exactly where you want to be.
