What is your current role at Annalect?
As Human Resources Associate, I handle onboarding, status changes, employee questions and concerns — and I’m an active member of our DE&I team.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I have a passion for Mixed Martial Arts. I’m a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I’ve trained in Kickboxing for the past year. It’s a great way to relieve stress, and the people I train with always have the best energy! I also watch a variety of disciplines and have seen every single UFC fight.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
As an intern, I helped implement a new HRIS (Human Resources Information System) from start to finish. I provided suggestions, created admin and user guides, and developed my expertise enough to make system changes and provide support. This was the first big project of my career, and it taught me so much about problem-solving and company-wide communications.
In celebrating Black history and culture, who or what is your biggest inspiration.
My mom is, without a doubt, my biggest inspiration. Unafraid of new experiences — she raised me well and provided an amazing childhood. She made sure I got the education I needed, and supported me through thick and thin. I’m forever grateful, and do my best to emulate her example.
What message do you have for black men and women earlier in their career looking to grow into positions of leadership in their schools, workplaces, and communities?
Don’t be afraid to create opportunities for yourself or tackle tasks you’ve never done before. These opportunities will help you get ahead in your career and, much of the time, positively impact your company. It shows initiative, and that gets noticed.
