Close-Up: Trudi Miller, Senior Director of Learning & Development

Inspired by Pride Month — this spotlight series celebrates the diversity which drives our success, fosters strong values, and uplifts every individual to become the collective heart of Annalect culture. Join us in recognizing the talent, inspiration, and valuable insights contributing to our vibrant and inclusive community.

Tell us about your current role at Annalect.

My team and I design, develop, and disseminate training materials, including live and on-demand training sessions. Topics range from the sophisticated tech and tools our colleagues have built, to soft skills like management and leadership training. We simplify difficult concepts to promote understanding — so our team can do better work on behalf of our clients, and grow in their career.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I enjoy traveling, playing video games, going to the theatre, and relaxing in nature.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

I hope my proudest professional achievement is yet to come! That said, some career highlights include: launching the Omni Certification program (giving tens of thousands of Omnicom colleagues a thorough understanding of the next-level marketing operating system Annalect created), helping hundreds of students learn the skills needed to join the information technology field, and earning my doctorate after many years of hard work.

In celebrating Pride Month, who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I’m especially inspired by folks who came out prior to me, back in the 1990’s while we were in college (before Ellen came out). These people weren’t famous — they were simply living out and proud — helping those of us struggling with how society would respond to our orientation through their work and activism.

What message do you have for other LGBTQ+ colleagues, who may be early in their career and looking to grow into leadership positions in their schools, workplaces and communities?

It’s important to remember that you are worthy, you have allies, support continues to grow, and time is on your side. Your voice can help drive change which protects you, your loved ones, and ultimately — those living in parts of the world where things are still pretty tough for LGBTQ+ folks.
